Opportunity Wisconsin will host a media availability and tour with La Crosse area parents at Hope Restores, to highlight the expanded Child Tax Credit included in the American Rescue Plan. Parents must file their 2020 taxes by Monday in order to be eligible to receive the monthly payments. 

The expanded and improved Child Tax Credit makes historic investments in La Crosse area families and children, including:

• 90.5% of children – 141,500 children – will benefit from the expanded and improved CTC. 

• The average benefit for 45,200 households is $2,900.

• The expanded and improved CTC lifts 5,400 children out of poverty, including 2,000 children under the age of six.

• Families with children living in poverty will receive an average of $5,400.

Hope Restores Corporation is a non-profit organization aimed at “uplifting, empowering and restoring the African American community through education, preservation and advocacy.” Programs and services offered include a free, 2-hour drop-in daycare, allowing parents to schedule job interviews, run errands, or attend other appointments that will support their needs and growth.
