Eau Claire community leaders celebrate 58th anniversary of Medicare and Medicaid
Eau Claire community leaders and grassroots activists will join Opportunity Wisconsin, For Our Future WI, and Citizen Action Wisconsin to celebrate the 58th anniversary of Medicare and Medicaid becoming law, a milestone reached earlier this week.
Eau Claire residents will deliver brief remarks about the importance of protecting and strengthening these programs and highlight current attempts to roll back provisions that have made prescription drugs more affordable for Medicare beneficiaries.
Under the Inflation Reduction Act, seniors on Medicare are already benefiting from a cap on insulin prices, a program that forces drug companies to pay rebates when they raise prescription prices higher than the rate of inflation, and Medicare will soon have the ability to negotiate for lower prescription drug prices on many life-saving drugs.
